“Rory Taillon & the Old Souls will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future”
– Canadian Musician Magazine
Rory Taillon (tay-lawn) is serious about music. He’s been playing guitar and professionally training his pipes for over a decade, and with the release of his debut EP “Closure” in January 2012, fans all over Canada have gotten a taste of the music wrought by that dedication: a mesh of grungy acoustic rock, rootsy blues, and introspective folk married to Rory’s signature vocal style that leaves audiences spellbound.
“it’s not black & white” is Rory’s second release and was written entirely by Taillon. It comes alive both in solo performances and full-band shows with his band Rory Taillon and the Old Souls. Released on September 13th 2013, the album was produced by Theo Posthumus and recorded at Chalet Recording Studio in Claremont, the Rhythm Complex in Oshawa and Coalition Music in Toronto. The seven song album eschews slick production and recording parlor tricks in favor of a raw, deeply personal ambience that highlights Rory’s honest lyrics and the deceptively simple melody and percussion lines that listeners find so captivating.
Highlights of Taillon’s music career include live performances on CTV Ottawa Morning Live, CHCH Morning Live Hamilton, and Global Morning News Hamilton.
